Taking Shelter of Krishna - No Qualification Required

with Sravaniya Dasi, ACBSP

There are varieties of relationships and service within the process of surrender, as well as different levels of realization. The reality is that it takes time and constant practice to become fully Krishna conscious. The beginner has to prove he is serious and this may take many lifetimes. Uddhava and the gopis were on an elevated level and served Krishna face to face. But the principle of taking full shelter of the Lord is relevant to all levels. Srila Prabhupada writes (Bg 9.32 purport), “But in devotional service there is no distinction between the lower and higher classes of people…the process of devotional service is so strong that the pure devotee of the Supreme Lord can enable people of all the lower classes to attain the highest perfection of life. This is possible only when one takes shelter of Kṛṣṇa.”

Here is class on Srimad Bhagavatam 11.12.14-15 given by Sravaniya DiPecoraro on 31 March 2022 for ISKCON Hong Kong. Toward the end she outlines the simple list of how to take shelter of the Lord. Great for recovering Jagais and Madhais!

Beyond Renunciation and Knowledge

with Sravaniya Dasi, ACBSP

In this chapter the glories of holy association and the superexcellence of the pure love of the residents of Vṛndāvana are described. Sravaniya Dasi shares Srila Prabhupada’s writings that support the assertion that no other religious activities—mystic yoga system, philosophical speculation, charity, vows, penances, ritualistic sacrifices, etc.—can lead to the ultimate goal of self realization. Only by the association of the Lord’s pure devotee can a living entity attain the highest level of being, devotional service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Topics include:

Ananda-mayo bhyasat - Spirit is joyful by nature Vijñāna-maya - Impersonal Yoga Philosophy * How God is the Greatest - ṣaḍ-aiśvarya, aṣṭa-guṇa and aṣṭa-siddhi Srimad Bhagavatam 11.12.9 class for ISKCON Hong Kong, given on 24 March 2022.

The Two Birds - Self and Higher Self

with Sravaniya Dasi, ACBSP

Here is class on Srimad Bhagavatam 11.11.6 given by Sravaniya DiPecoraro on 10 February 2022 at ISKCON Hong Kong. In English and Cantonese. Translation by Jayasri Devi Dasi.

In this chapter, Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa describes to Uddhava the difference between conditioned and liberated living entities, the characteristics of a saintly person and the different aspects of the practice of devotional service. The analogy of two birds (self and Higher Self) situated in the tree of the material body is given. “The discussion between Arjuna and Krishna recorded in the Bhagavad Gita is literally what it would look like if the eating bird stopped his activity, turned to his friend, the observing bird, and asked for advice.” The chapter is here. https://vedabase.io/en/library/sb/11/11/

The Power of Unalloyed Love

with Sravaniya Dasi, ACBSP

“My devotees may or may not know exactly what I am, who I am and how I exist, but if they worship Me with unalloyed love, then I consider them to be the best of devotees.” —Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa

Here is class on Srimad Bhagavatam 11.11.33 given by Sravaniya DiPecoraro on 10 March 2022 for ISKCON Hong Kong.

“Actually, the Supreme Lord, Kṛṣṇa, is always independent, but He reciprocates the intense love of His devotees and thus appears to be dependent on them, just as He apparently became dependent on Nanda Mahārāja and Yaśodā during His childhood pastimes in Vṛndāvana.”
